Detail : Notes from the seller: 'The organ, built by the Leicester-based Porritt in 1901, is an instrument of considerable quality and a significant survival of its builder's work. It is noticeably well voiced and sounds very fine. The Council was told that it was played maybe once a year and that when it is used the maintenance costs were considered prohibitive. There is a good grand piano and various music groups lead worship and the organ is no longer requested for weddings and funerals. The organ is not in full working order, with significant work required to one of the three manuals (the Swell) to put it in good order. The rest of the instrument was working and had stood in tune remarkably well. In full working order it would be excellent for leading congregational singing, voluntaries and concerts and should not require frequent or expensive maintenance.'
